In April, a techno music battle event unique to Finnish conditions will be organized in Helsinki. The event called BASS OFF will be held next to Senate Square in the White Hall on Maundy Thursday, April 17, and it will feature six domestic and six foreign top techno talents.
It's not about the usual performances, but there will be a duel of twelve DJs in total, where they will perform against each other in "battles".
- There have already been many such battle-type performances in the world, but in Finland they have not been seen in this scale before. The DJs literally play against each other, and the "battle" is about who mixes and plays the best songs and gets the audience involved the fastest, says event promoter Martin Karm from SoundVault.
Techno music has traditionally been about the unity of the performers, but in battle the matter is turned upside down, when the performers compete for the audience's popularity and the victory of the duel. The audience votes after the performances by shouting and clapping, and the winner is the one who generates the most energy on the dance floor. At the same time, the audience is a particularly important part of the event.

Six foreign techno DJs/producers will take the stage of the White Hall. The colors of the Swedish flag are represented by the Dual Drive duo, which consists of Bara W and Technokid, fighting against each other. Räv and Stephan Krus will arrive from Italy for a duel. The third foreign battle pair will be Sept from Poland and Umut Sefilogly from Turkey.
Among domestic artists, the fighting pair of the BASS OFF event will be Milla Lehto and Korento, as well as the pairs of Luxonia collective Robbe & KUOKKA and KLASS & Triple M.
- Luxonia is Finland's largest electronic dance music collective and we are very happy to participate in the BASS OFF event with four of our artists. On the same evening, we have four other artists also participating in another machine music event in Helsinki. Nowadays there is quite a lot of demand for machine music, whether it's Easter, Christmas or another holiday, says Tomi Lindblom, Luxonia's artist manager.
Tickets for the event are already on sale at Biletti, https://biletti.fi/e/bass-off-by-soundvault
