YleX's popular New Dance Music List program will end in June. The program's host Juska Wendland announced the news on his radio broadcast. The program, which focuses on new electronic dance music, has been on YleX for seven and a half years.
The program will end when Wendland moves to Germany this summer. The Helsingin Sanomat Foundation has awarded him a scholarship to Freie Universität Berlin for the academic year 2025–2026. Wendland is conducting doctoral research in the field of media education at the Faculty of Education of the University of Lapland on podcast communities and audiences.
– This program has been super important to me personally and it seems to be for you too. We gather here in the Arena every week. It's been incredibly cool, and I've had the feeling that we've had a good time here, both on the part of the creators and the listeners, Wendland said in his broadcast.
The final New Dance Music List program will be broadcast on YleX on Friday, June 6. Wendland will continue to host the DJ Orion program on YleX on Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
